DOES INDIA REALLY DESERVE THOSE OSCARS?

When I make my daddy proud by winning prizes or scoring good marks in exams, he rewards me with little gifts-like books, clothes etc.
Likewise, when someone makes our country proud, shouldn’t the government do something in return?

Nine-year-old Rubina and Azharuddin, the star kids of ‘Slumdog millionaire’- the film that stole the limelight at the Oscars, are now homeless.

Those little kids might not have realized. But it was their contribution to the film that moved many hearts and helped India bask in the ‘OSCAR glory’. Yet, these kids live on platform!

The movie, being such a huge hit must’ve earned millions. Aren’t those children supposed to be given at least a little something from that?

And what happened to the houses that our government promised them?

In my opinion, this is a form of child exploitation too. The children were made to act. However, they weren’t given their fair share of payment. Besides, this wasn’t just any other award they won. It was the Oscars!

And ironically, the movie portrays the life of slum children..

What use are all these Oscars when people are not sympathetic to the very movie’s own actors? What use are those laurels brought to the country, when it does not care for the ones who contributed for it?
